Superb Owl's

According to MediaGuardian advertising at this years Superbowl could be less "daring" this year. Anheuser-Busch have decided not to show their new "nipplegate" advert/commercial, but you will be able to get it online at Budweiser.com (if you're over 21).

Also apparently 1.4million USers have bought a new tv for the superbowl. Wow! Wonder how many are HDTV ?!

Another browser problem to be aware of...

This one bites everyone, except IE, because IE is so out of date it doesn't even have the new feature. Typical!!

This is a feature that should allow more domain names by allowing characters that are not just in the ASCII character set a-z or 0-9. Already used in German (.de) and other domains.

The Mozilla Foundation have said they're working on a proper fix which is something. Apple's browser guys and Opera have both said there's nothing to fix.

If you need a demonstration why this could be a problem:

Expect the mainstream media to have fun with this one.

Ohh, shit! (aka, last sunday)

(yes, it was pay day).

So those who don't already know, my Peugeot 307 was in a nasty smash last night. No witnesses, and so the insurance company have had to assume it was my fault. I was at a T-junction, not 1.5 miles from home, waiting to turn right. When the road was clear, I pulled out, and got smacked in the middle of the right side. Camera phone picture, so its a little grainy.

Insurance phoned midweek to say it was a writeoff, and then phoned the following day with a very appropriate valuation. I could not argue. This weekend I've found an identical model, in blue, 4 months older, with 10k less miles, for about the same sum of money. I've put my order in!

Sort of put a dampner on the week, but at least both I and the other guy were the only people in our cars, and walked away from it. As Mr Grumpy said "the only good accident is one you walk away from".

I always thought if I was going to have an accident, it would be on the way to or from work. Obviously not.

Lets hope I get the money and other car sorted ASAP.

Then it 'twas Thursday

Pesky cold yesterday and this morning, but now its raining and alledgely foggy. Ugh.

Still laughing at Phuts "SWeDoN", nice one that :)

Royal Mail is apparently crap now. Still waiting for the post to deliver the paperwork I need to sign to agree the settlement figure for my ex-car. It was posted Monday! Arse.

Anyway, collect the replacement, slightly older, car tomorrow! So watch out, I'll be back on the road... hopefully I can make it slightly more than 137,800 miles before the next crunch. (Previous crunch was in 1996, 9 yrs ago, wow!).

Loonatics

Bugs Bunny and friends to get an extreme makeover for a new cartoon set in 2772. Weird effects, but its just another cartoon.

In other news, Smarties are to lose their tube. Shame :)

Sunday Sunday

So I've got the car, and yep, its already got bird shit on it. Ok, I need a new parking space! Otherwise its in immaculate condition. Cool beans. I've also become quite a bit more paranoid a driver, which can only be a good thing... can't it!?

Also we can almost welcome back Mr Grumpy to the world of blogging, although he's going on a business trip for the week, so don't bother looking until next Sunday at the earliest.

Organisational Manoeuvres In The Dark

I had a call today from my current line manager (who I don't actually work for), saying I was being moved to a different dept from the start of March, and that she was going on 6months leave. My new manager wouldn't be back from leave until the end of March.

But as they're only there to say "no you can't have training", and have no point, its all a little academic.

Still the normal day to day slog continued, today getting ready the datasets for the customer training tomorrow. Good news is I'm not having to attend site for this one, so I'm going to slouch at my desk, and keep fingers crossed they don't need to call.

"New" car is running fine, seems exactly the same to drive, just in blue!

Its Snowing?

Allegedly tonight is the big showfall. Hmm, nothing here yet in Farn, and its 00:12 Thursday. Saw Oceans 12 tonight, and that is a good, and funny movie. Recommended.

Got cheque from insurance, that's quick!

Work pub trip tomorrow night... mmmmmm

Dead Apples and Paperwork

Just for DeGaS, the man behind the Mac is dead!! Ahh, that was a real Mac, the 128k in 1984 :)

On Friday I finally (wow, only 4 months late!) had confirmation that my professions case had been approved. So I'm now Accredited (WTF?) and apparently eligible to join the BCS. Hmm.

Next thing is to sort out the potential promotion paperwork and send it back to management. Then maybe I'll get a better job next time around. Hmm, means I might have to be a team leader. Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....
