October!?

Wow, its now October. Kinda missed that. D'Oh.

'Staff' in my last post was a bit not quite right. I've become the "dumping ground", officially. I did have 3 contractors, now one, and one permanant, hopefully now 2. However one may be leaving.

I've been told that in the "project management corner" I can get one of them to make plans, if I give them tasks. That's not working. So I'm doing a "project management / tech team lead / meeting grunt / problem solver / all the crap" type role.

Yeah, and so I'll be getting rid of this stupid role when we can finally close out the 'separation' project. No, I _will_ not do it anymore for that lot. I'd have to be paid a _serious_ increase in cash to even contemplate it.

Dreaming of warm holidays

As I sit here and contemplate having to change the clocks shortly, the nights are getting darker, and its getting typically winterish. Ugh.

Luckily I have a really good wallpaper on my PC (a photo I took Sept 2004) of a perfect blue sky in Southern California.

Now, I have no money, and the plans are if I get any money to spend it on this stupid flat (I really should decorate and buy a new sofa for starts!), but I really want to go on a relaxing two week holiday.

Not sure who I'd want to go with mind ;)Still working on that one.

Any best locations for serious relaxation?

Me..... I'll start with a couple of ideas....

Hawaii (Maui)
Lake Havasu - Arizona
Palm Springs area - California
Australia (perhaps Perth, as I've not been there).

Oh, and I'd probably have to take the music track that is currently playing. A bit of an oldie, its still spooky.... "The Chain, Fleetwood Mac".

Whatdayathink?

They've done it again...

Apple have today launched the new iPod, which is thinner than ever, and also available in black, to go along with the Shuffle and the Nano, this one is still a hard drive based unit.

However it plays video, and some TV shows will be available to buy on the iTunes store. Pretty amazing.

Upgraded

Yes, I've updated the software that drives this blog. Hopefully there will be no errors! The premis is that most junk comments are automatically blocked. Hopefully. I've got one glitch relating to a style sheet on the archives, where the font is too large. You'll see what I mean if you click on an archive link :)

Very amusing

Name this movie:

Scott Howard: Listen, Stiles. Do you know anything about a rash that's going around?
Stiles: Why, you looking to catch something?
Scott Howard: No, I'm serious

Ouch!

Ribby - yep, you got it in one. Still like the quote though, despite its age!
Lever - ahh, I guess when I get some free time I'll do some comparisons, thanks for the heads up. I must admit to being way out of date on CSS, my HTML skills are pretty much old style, so I just nicked some demo styles for the old ver of MovableType, and the upgrade has done something odd!

The title refers to the lack of cold water in my bathroom, and the hot is extremely hot. Ouch! Damn plumbing.

Just done some analysis work and realised I may have to work on Saturday, oh $£$£%£"%£%££%£ (expletive-deleted)

Safety in numbers?

Saw this article on the BBC News site today, not sure if its going to help, but suspect its yet another attempt to try and "help" generically. Seems to be pretty well written too. Its called Get Safe Online!

Car?

Anyone want a car? This could be fun

:-)

Old father time

So now the clocks have changed, its officially autumn. There are more leaves on the ground, (and on my car!) than I've ever seen on a tree. I reckon they multiply.

Spent yesterday (Sat) in the office with a couple of colleagues doing a lot of server maintenance. Went well, but as always, we cannot get agreement from the customer to do this stuff during the day. Typical, and we also couldn't find any experienced staff, so muggins here (as team lead) had to do it. Sigh.

Today, I get a phonecall saying "help, the servers are down" so spent 3 hours sorting that out. Luckily a completely different set of servers on a site 238 miles away. Arse.

Anyway, its tiem to watch the TV I've missed this week :)
