Its February!

Let hope its a good one.

Spam is getting to be a major problem. I've just created a graph of my spam stats. This is the spam that is detected by my second level filter, the first level ditches the outright outrageous stuff at the server. Its a depressing trend.

As you can see there was a blip in mid 2004, which is because I mistakenly starting receiving email to all made up names on my email domain. Getting rid of this reduced the tidal wave. However the trend is visibly upwards, and I have just crossed the 66% boundary last month.

Is email going to be killed by the amount of spam?

Land of the free?

So we think of the USA and we think "land of the free" or "if you're not born free you don't understand" (taken from one of Tom Clancy's books).

However something like this occurs and you rethink.

I suspect this country (UK) is much worse, what with Blairism and all the ID card kerfuffle. We seem to be harming our society in the name of 'security' from these terrorists. Isn't that what they want? Like spammers online, if we acknowledge it, change behaviour because of it, they've won?

In other news, my 8mbps DSL connection is now live and it works well :-)

Oops, a blank page!

When you click on your own blog and find its been so long since you last posted that is just showing empty space, you know something is up. :) Anyway, work is still busy, but drastically and thankfully a lot less busy than last month. Trying now to sort out a training plan for the year, wonder if I can get an MCSE bootcamp!!

Concerned is not the word on the news about the ID cards bill tonight. Even the BBC's quick poll, which has had 15,000 votes so far is 75% saying ID cards will not make the UK safer. So what is the point? Oh, so we can live in Orwell's 1984?

I think the no2id site says it all really.

What's the point of the expense? Government IT projects like this always fail and cost billions. Give up now you idiot politicians.

Still here...

Yes, i'm still here. This is becoming a weekend only blog now, as I've got no personal time at all during the week, work and commuting to blame.

This week.... more crazy hours at work securing Wintel servers against worms, thankfully we're now up to date, until next month!

But this really worries me, if true:
