Friday's train crash was a bit of a downer. I wonder if it was caused by British Disease ??
So I've just sunk a couple of hundred quid into some new bits for my second PC, that I can then run Vista on properly. (Yes, x64, as well as x86).
- CPU Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4ghz 1066FSB 4mb
- 2GB Kingston CL2.5 PC3200 RAM
Yes, the current wisdom is that a 2.4ghz Core 2 processor is equivalent to a 4.8ghz Pentium 4. Should be enough speed to run that crazy new graphics interface :-)
Once that's up and running, I need to find myself a quiet box to run as a file server/domain controller, but by "quiet" I mean really quiet. My current main machine is a 3 yr old (or more!) Dell 2.8ghz P4, which is amazingly quiet. Maybe I'll have to get something about the same and hide it in the loft.....

Heh, I have a reader, who'd have thunk :)
It was in italics deliberately, but I mean abdicating personal responsibility, kinda "more than my jobs worth mate". People don't have any 'ownership' of the problem.
Did you know that Richard Branson looks after his employees, so they trust the company. e.g. when there was a problem with a Virgin Atlantic aircraft on landing (gear problems) he sent the entire crew onboard to his island for a weeks free holiday.
Kinda like the army... "The team works".... I suspect that teaming is sadly missing.
